Advisory: Burglary from motor vehicle around Balboa Park and surrounding area

The West Valley area is still having a problem with Burglary from motor vehicle in and around the park. The majority of our investigations have revealed that people are going to the park to exercise or to play golf and are leaving their property in their vehicle in plain sight or they are putting their property in their trunk when they arrive. We have found that suspects sit in the parking lots and watch the victim’s park their vehicle’s, put their property in the trunk and wait for them to leave. We recommend that you place your property in the trunk prior to arriving. Even better do not have anything in your vehicle. If there is nothing to take then you can’t be a victim. Burglary from motor vehicle is the only crime that can be 100% removed from our crime problem. All we need is for the community to assist us by not keeping anything that is worth taking in your vehicle. If there is nothing to steal the criminals can not commit the crime.
