Did you hear on National News this week that the San Andreas usually experiences a "big one" every 100 years or so, and that it's been about 160 since the last big one on the southern end? We're talking in the realm of a 7.2. Have I gotten your attention?
Well, you're in luck! it's time for another great Emergency Prepared-
ness Meeting, this Saturday, March 11th, 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Flyaway Bus Terminal in the Community Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor. Take the elevator INSIDE the building, or the steps OUTSIDE. The Flyaway is located at 7610 Woodley Ave., (NE Corner of Saticoy and Woodley) in Lake Balboa. Plenty of FREE PARKING in the spaces closest to the street. Come let us help you to GET PREPARED AND NOT BE SCARED!!!
And, the Luck of the Leprechauns is with us this month! Our good friend and EP Guru, ERIN HUEY, has agreed to come back and give us some of her very best First Aid Tips in honor of our ongoing CERT classes (do the most good for the most people in the shortest amount of time!) Erin always crams 5 hours worth of knowledge into about 45 minutes of speaker time, and manages to make the learning great fun at the same time! Come get those brain follicles tickled while enjoying one of our favorite instructors!!!
And speaking of CERT, it's not too late to participate in our "just started" FREE classes at Magnolia Science Academy, 17125 Victory Blvd. (the last school west of Balboa between Balboa and Louise), Thursday evenings through April 13th, 6:30 to 9:00 PM. Plenty of FREE PARKING. Take the driveway off Victory, turn right, and look for the CERT sign! Plan to arrive early to get parked and get a seat! If you've missed a class or two, you can make them up at other CERT classes throughout the City and still graduate with our group!
Don't forget our HAM Radio Net this (and every) Sunday morning, 9:00 AM, 145.570 Simplex. We're a formal net (in that it's directed), but very easy going and friendly. A great place for NEW hams to begin their on-air transmissions! And, it's the second Sunday, so we'll be doing our FRS/GMRS/Walkie-Talkie Net at 9:45 AM, Channel 5. (Go down to Channel 3 if 5 is busy.)
We try to make being prepared for disasters as painless and pleasant as possible. Join us!
