FREE Community Emergency Response Training is Coming to LAPD West Valley Division

Interested in learning more about basic disaster response skills and volunteering during a disaster?

Would you like to learn what to do in times of emergency when getting help from emergency responders may be delayed by hours, days, or weeks?

Join us for FREE Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)! created by the Los Angeles City Fire Department to promote a partnership between professional emergency services and the communities they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train neighborhood members, community organizations, and workplaces in basic emergency response skills to enhance the emergency response capabilities of their community. Following a disaster, the skills learned can help you save and sustain the lives of your family and neighbors until help arrives.

Sign up now for FREE classes and learn how to be an LAFD CERT-trained volunteer. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, through Tuesday, February 28, 2023, West Valley LAPD C-PAB will host FREE LAFD Cert Training Classes at the West Valley station: 19020 Vanowen St, Reseda CA 91335. Parking is FREE at the Station or behind the Public Library which is right next door.

All training will be conducted by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The class begins at 6:30 PM and runs for 2-1/2 hours, one day a week (Tuesday) for 7 weeks. There are no prerequisites to attend the training and all adults, 18 and older are invited to participate. To Graduate, you must complete the entire training course to receive your Certificate of Completion and reward. Space is limited so you must enroll for the training. A special note about the use of masks:
Under the provisions of Section 231(i) of the Los Angeles City Charter and Chapter 3, Section 8.27 of the Los Angeles Administrative Code, I hereby declare that the Safer L.A.Order, dated September 26, 2022, is withdrawn and superseded by this Order, which is necessary for the protection of life and property in the City of Los Angeles and is effective on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 12:01 AM: All persons living and working within the City of Los Angeles should continue to always practice required and recommended COVID-19 infection control measures at all times and when among other persons when in community, work, social, or school settings, especially when multiple unvaccinated persons from different households may be present and in close contact with each other, especially when in indoor or crowded outdoor settings.
