
Sharing your input with the Los Angeles City Council is simple once you know where to click. This guide walks you through submitting a public comment on a council file and subscribing to email updates so you can track what happens next.
What you need

The council file number, for example 13-1493 or 13-1493-S12

A valid email address to confirm your submission
Step by step, submit your comment

Go to the City Clerk site at https://clerk.lacity.org, then open LA City Clerk Connect.

In the search bar, enter the council file number in this format: 13-1493 or 13-1493-S12.

In the right panel, select the matching council file.

At the top of the file header, click NEW to open the Public Comment Form.

Complete the form and submit.
Confirm your comment by email
After you submit, check your email inbox, and your spam folder if needed, for an authorization message from the City Clerk. Follow the instructions in that message to finalize your comment. Until you confirm by email, the comment will not be recorded.
Get updates on a council file
You can subscribe to receive updates as the file moves through City Council.

On the council file page, click the envelope icon.

Enter your email, choose Subscribe to all supplementals, then click Subscribe.

Check your email and confirm the subscription.
