Neighbors and stakeholders have shared key concerns about the RV storage lot and other projects at the Victory and Balboa location. We are asking Councilmember Padilla and agency partners to address the items below during the Victory Safety & Construction Meeting on November 17 (Zoom).
Meeting details
-
Date: November 17
-
Format: Zoom
-
Time and link: to be announced
Requested answers
-
OPG 24/7 security: What exactly will security look like? On-site patrol officer or roving patrols? Will officers be armed? Please coordinate with the LAPD representative so they can answer during the meeting.
-
Sanitation tanks: Will RVs be sanitized before arriving at the lot? How will you prevent tank erosion from improper maintenance, contamination, and unfiltered water?
-
Fuel tanks: Our understanding is that all fuel tanks will be emptied. Please confirm the process and timing.
-
Rodent control: Abandoned RVs can attract rodents. Is funding allocated for regular rodent control on the lot?
-
Heavy rains and runoff: Abandoned RVs can be toxic. What is the biohazard cleanup plan for stormwater runoff into nearby sidewalks, streets, and the LA River? How will motor oil spills and leakage be handled? Note, seven schools are at the northwest corner of Victory and Balboa with about 6,000 students who walk in this area.
-
Occupied RVs: If a person occupies an RV on the lot, what is the plan and timeline for removal that protects safety and rights?
-
Fire risk: What prevention measures, response plans, and coordination protocols are in place for potential fires?
If you have additional questions you want raised on November 17, please send them to info@lakebalboanc.org in advance so we can include them.
