The LBNC Emergency Preparedness Committee invites you to join us on the second Saturday of every month, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Flyaway, 2nd Floor Community Room, 7610 Woodley Ave., (NE Corner of Saticoy and Woodley). Plenty of free parking out front in the spaces closest to the street. Take the elevator inside the building or the steps outside.
Come and enjoy our presentations, mini-classes, demonstrations, etc. Learn how we can ready ourselves, our families and our neighborhoods for the inevitable "big one" that will strike our community. Dr. Lucy Jones reminds us that it's not "if" but "when" an earthquake up to an 8.2 magnitude will happen on the San Andreas. Dozens of other faults stand ready to fail, as well! Come learn how we can be our own "First Responders"! Invite your neighbors to come with you.
And plan now to join us on Saturday, September 29th at the NW corner of Northridge Fashion Center (9400 Shirley Ave., south of Plummer) from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM for the 11th annual family- friendly and completely FREE Valley Disaster Preparedness Fair, sponsored by the Southern California Preparedness Foundation and supported by many Neighborhood Councils throughout the city, including Lake Balboa, and other organizations. Click here for the Save the Date flyer.
The entire Fair is FREE: parking, admission, starter family emergency preparedness kits*, lunch*, speakers, demos, etc., (*while supplies last). It's a fun-filled day for the whole family, and we invite you to come and enjoy it. We need volunteers! Come join the fun!
You can help with the budget for the Fair by purchasing food and drinks at our local Del Taco at 6821 Balboa Blvd. on Friday, June 22, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 20% of your purchase will go to the Foundation!
